Larry Wilson, Visionary

That “The Great Game of Life” was created by Larry Wilson should not surprise you. Larry Wilson is, after all, a brand unto himself, one of the most enduring, listened to, change-management “philosophers” who ever shared insights with business audiences worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of employees, managers, and top leaders from some of the largest companies in the world have learned from Larry how to increase their human potential and profit from making change their friend and source of opportunity.

The Great Game of Life represents the journey of every individual and every organization. It is the journey through life, the constant quest to remember our true potential and our true purpose—who we are at our very core. Larry has devised new and different ways for individuals and organizations to re-discover their courage and creativity and use these to facilitate their own change strategy to achieve optimal performance and sustainable growth.

Larry Wilson is known for many accomplishments. He was the founder of a pre-eminent training company, Wilson Learning Corporation, whose programs helped Fortune 500 companies thrive in an uncertain world. In 1982 he pursued an emerging vision of new leadership and culture change by creating Pecos River Learning Center.

Larry’s innovative entrepreneurship grew from early experiences selling life insurance. By age 29 he had become the youngest lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a benchmark achievement in the life insurance field. His seminal insight was that, when at his best, he was “coaching” his clients, not “selling” them, became the philosophy of the groundbreaking Counselor Selling program introduced in 1965.

Larry Wilson has been recognized with many awards including: Speakers Hall of Fame; Senior Fellow and Alumni of the Year at the University of Minnesota; and Ambassador of Free Enterprise by the International Sales and Marketing Executives.

Today, Larry spends high-impact time speaking and consulting with senior leadership teams from companies such as Simmons, American Express, General Motors, Dupont, Citibank, Kraft, Ernst & Young, and British Airways. The Wilson Consulting Group supports these organizations to “change their game” by helping them “create the organization that, if it existed, would put theirs out of business.”

Larry has authored more than five books and numerous articles, and has been the subject of many feature articles on entrepreneurial leadership.

What others say about Larry Wilson:

“I knew the best thing I could do for our clients and client wannabees was to get them in front of Larry Wilson as our gift to them. I was right. They loved you and your leadership message. They also “got” the changes they’re going to have to make in themselves and their organizations in order to thrive in the upside-down world of our future. Thanks and let’s do it again.”
Roger Dunbar, Pacific Northwest Area Managing Partner
Ernst & Young

“Larry. You came, you spoke and you converted them. Ours is a tough group. They’ve heard them all. But they hadn’t heard you. Your message, your delivery and your energy all hit the bull’s-eye. We can hardly wait to have you back—soon.”
Rick Merrill, Director of Education
Promotional Products Association International

“Larry, first we must tell you we’re still experiencing the ‘giggle factor’ over your presentation to our leaders and managers. Your inspirational message has provided us with the fuel to drive the changes we must make to ensure our future. You’ve helped us all know we can make a difference.”
Bob Page, President
Quick Chek Food Stores

”Larry—May, year 2000, will be etched in granite as a defining time for Miller Brewing. You and your program not only knocked the socks off our 800 sales and marketing folks, a lot more came off as well. Like internal competition, self-limiting beliefs, and fears of the future. I saw our people grow on the spot. What was added was a renewed spirit of cooperation, a renewed ‘can do–will do’ attitude, and a vision of the future we can hardly wait to get to. We’re all on the commitment train ready to roll on to becoming the best we can be. You did your part, and now we’re ready and able to do the rest.”
Jim Mortensen, Senior Vice President
Miller Brewing Company

“You’ve never failed to exceed my expectations. I told my people you are the best. I don’t think they really believed me. Now, they too are Larry Wilson fans. Again, you made me look good, and you made them feel good about themselves and our company. And, you’re helping me bring the message and tools of change, commitment, courage, and creativity to the people who will make our company happen. Thanks for being on our team.”
Charlie Eitel, CEO
Simmons Company
